Microbial Interactions in the Ocean

To explore how our laboratory discoveries apply in the environment we carry out studies in the ocean. Environmental samples are analyzed to identify the microbial participants, their chemical crosstalk and the various influences they have on each other. The study of marine samples helps us establish the importance of our laboratory findings and initiates novel research directions. Our goal is to demonstrate how micro-scale processes that derive from algal-bacterial interactions can manifest at the global scale of biogeochemical cycles.
