Elad David is a PhD student in the Department of Earth and Planetary Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science, working under the supervision of Prof. Oded Aharonson. He holds a BSc in Chemistry and Biology from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and an MSc in Chemistry from the Weizmann Institute.
Elad’s research focuses on the present-day phenomena and the historic evolution of planets in the solar system, with a focus on CO2 and water ice on Mars, their distribution and interactions, and their relationship with the broader martian climate. During his MSc, he simulated the seasonal CO2 cycle at past climates using a Global Climate Model, investigating how the intensity of the seasonal CO2 cycle changed under the evolving orbital configuration. In his PhD, Elad studies seasonal variations in the radiative properties of CO2 ice using orbital measurements. His work aims to identify the physical mechanisms driving these variations and to understand how they differ across Mars years.
