Cohen Cadury
Sharon Cohen Cadury is a PhD student in Prof. Tamir Klein’s lab in the Department of Plant and Environmental Sciences at the Weizmann Institute of Science, under the supervision of Prof. Tamir Klein and Dr. Stav Livne-Luzon. Sharon holds a BSc and MSc in Biotechnology from Bar-Ilan University.
Sharon’s scientific path began with a fascination for molecular mechanisms and their broad societal impact. During her military service as an education officer, she advocated for environmental sustainability, an experience that deepened her personal connection to ecological issues and shaped her lifestyle. After completing her MSc in Neuroscience, she continued studying molecular communication, eventually turning to the ectomycorrhizal symbiosis that shapes forest ecosystems.
In her PhD, Sharon investigates how trees regulate carbohydrate metabolism in roots and allocate carbon to their ectomycorrhizal partners. Her research also aims to clarify how belowground carbon flows, contributing to forest ecosystem resilience.
