Backup & Restore

We offer backup and restore services for any computing platform, as follows:

• Server backup.
• Personal computer backup.

Server Backup

To ensure that a particular server is properly backed up, so that files can easily be restored when necessary, be sure to submit a request for backup via Internal Services. 

The first time a backup is made, a full backup is performed, and is followed by subsequent incremental backups. This means that only files and directories that have been modified since the previous backup will be backed up.

Unix/Linux

By default, all files ,including user home directories, binaries and libraries compiled locally on servers (/usr/local), password/shadow files ,filesystem mount tables (/etc/fstab, /etc/exports), applications, config files and data directories - and in general all files not dependent on the operating system core - are included in backup sets.

Notes:

• If there is no need to back up specific files or directories, we encourage and recommend the use of the exclude option when making backup requests via Internal Services.
• On all platforms, restores cannot be used in case of a disaster or crash (meaning a new computer cannot be installed from scratch using restored files).
• There are two retention policy options for backup and restore services: 30-day remote or 90-day remote. Specify your desired policy when making requests via Internal Services.
