Guidelines for submission of an application for partial support for conference / workshop / symposium from the Goldschleger Foundation (rel. 6-2012)
Applications for support must be submitted by a scientific personnel member of the Institute at least 4 months in advance of the expected conference date.
Applications may be submitted at any time. However, the applications received will be reviewed in three cycles annually. Cycle submission deadlines are:
January 31st, May 31st and September 30th.
Application received by each deadline will be considered for support within one month of the submission deadline.
Applications must be submitted on the form attached herein and will be considered only when all relevant fields and endorsement signatures are completed.
The main parameters taken into account when assessing requests for support from the Foundation are:
-
Location: Support will only be considered if the proposed event will
take place in its entirety (or in part) on the campus of the Weizmann Institute.Higher priority for funding will be given for events planned in their entirety on campus. No support will be provided for events to be held entirely off campus
-
Organizer(s): Institute policy is providing increased support for events whose organization is wholly identified with the Weizmann Institute of Science.
-
Participation: The expected number of Weizmann Institute as well as other
Israeli and non-Israeli participants.
-
Duration: The planned duration for the conference.
-
Budget: The overall planned budget for the event
(taking into account the other sources of support).
-
Resources: The number of applications eligible to receive funding in a given submission cycle vs. the available funds.
-
Eligibility: Please note that events which received support from the WIS-CSP program are not eligible for additional support from the Goldschleger Foundation.
If support is approved from the Goldschleger Foundation prior to approval of
WIS-CSP support, please note that upon approval of support from WIS-CSP the approved support from Goldschleger Foundation will be forfeit.
- WIS-CSP program (for application form, click here)
Weizmann Institute of Science Conferences and Schools Support Program (WIS-CSP) Guidelines for submission of an application
OBJECTIVE: The WIS-CSP is a competitive support program aimed at providing substantial support for international conferences, workshops and graduate schools of less than 100 participants.
The WIS-CSP aims to:
-
Provide the initial secured funding that will enable a Weizmann faculty member to take upon himself/herself organization of a conference
[rather than to provide a supplementary source for a conference which is already (mostly) funded].
-
Encourage holding an international meeting in Israel and at the Weizmann campus in particular. Currently, campus housing is a major limitation and the program will also support events that take place elsewhere in Israel.
After completion of a nearby hotel the program will support only events that will take place entirely at the WIS campus.
-
Familiarize non-Israeli students, postdocs and faculty participating in such events with WIS research landscape and facilities.
Therefore, holding the event on the Weizmann campus and substantive inclusion of foreign students and postdocs among the foreseen participants will be a highly relevant consideration in the competitive review of the submitted applications.
ELIGIBLITY, SUMBISSION INSTRUCTIONS, DEADLINES AND FUNDING:
An application may be submitted by any member of the WIS scientific personnel organizing the event.
Submission deadlines are:
- May 31st (for conferences/schools to begin not before January of the following year)
- November 30th (for conferences/schools to begin not before July of the following year)
Decisions will be announced within 45 days. Approved applications* will be funded in the range of 40,000 NIS – 80,000 NIS
