Printing

When I try to print a page with a black background I get a blank sheet of paper. I use Netscape on a PC, Netscape on a Mac, Internet Explorer on a PC, Internet Explorer on a Mac.

Printing black background pages from Netscape on a PC

Pull down on the File menu and choose Page Setup. Netscape 4: In the section on Page Options click on Black Text. This will print the page with a white background and black text. There is also an option to Print backgrounds. This will print the page exactly as is, i.e. with a black background and whatever color text is on the page. You may want to print this to a color printer.
Netscape 7 or Mozilla: Click on Print backgrounds. This will print the page exactly as is, i.e. with a black background and whatever color text is on the page. You may want to print this to a color printer.

Printing black background pages from Netscape 4.8 on a Mac (OS 9)

Pull down on the File menu and choose Page Setup. Open the pull-down menu labelled Page Attributes, click on Netscape Communicator, and click on the box to Print Backgrounds. This will print the page exactly as is, i.e. with a black background and whatever color text is on the page. You may want to print this to a color printer.

Printing black background pages from IE on a PC

In IE version 4, pull down on the View menu; in IE version 5, open the Tools menu, and choose Internet Options. Click on the Advanced tab. Scroll down to the section on Printing and click on Print background colors and images. This will print the page exactly as is, i.e. with a black background and whatever color text is on the page. You may want to print this to a color printer.

Printing black background pages from IE on a Mac (OS X and OS 9)

Open the File menu and choose Print. Open the pull-down menu labelled General and click on Internet Explorer. When that window opens, make sure Print Backgrounds is checked. This will print the page exactly as is, i.e. with a black background and whatever color text is on the page. You may want to print this to a color printer.

Select Page Setup from the File menu. Set the contents of the various fields according to how you want your printed output to look.

Select Page Setup from the File menu. In the areas labeled Header: and Footer: specify the information to be printed according to the following variables. Variables can be combined with text (for example, Page &p of &P).
