Michael Bendikov was born in 1971 in the Ukraine. He came to Israel in 1991 and received a B.A., M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology under the direction of Professor Y. Apeloig. During his Ph.D. studies he received The Israel Chemical Society Prize and Wolf Foundation Prize for Ph.D. students. In 2001, he joined the group of Professor F. Wudl at UCLA as a postdoctoral researcher. Since June 2004, he has been a Faculty Member of the Department of Organic Chemistry at The Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel. He is a recipient of the 2007 DuPont Young Professor Award, 2009 The France Israel Foundation Award for Academic Excellence, 2009 Israel Chemical Society Outstanding Young Scientist Prize, 2010 The Journal of Physical Organic Chemistry Award for Early Excellence in Physical Organic Chemistry, 2010 Weizmann Institute Scientific Council Prize for Chemistry, member of the Lise Meitner-Minerva Center for Computational Quantum Chemistry located at Hebrew University and Technion. His research interests include the design of novel organic electronic materials and physical organic chemistry.
