Most of WIS employees live off-campus and hence need to make the way between home and campus twice a day. Vehicle transportation is a major contributor to air pollution via fossil fuel combustion. Cars also take up a big portion of the campus area for parking and make a financial burden on drivers. Therefore, the Weizmann Institute actively supports the use of other, essential means of transportation.
Why Do It?
Oil for transportation is polluting our environemnt and costs money that often goes to non democratic regimes. Walking, biking etc is also good for our personal health
