Zoom meeting rules

Dear participants,  Welcome to the conference!
Please read the following before clicking on the link to Zoom meeting.

For most of us, Zoom media is new and hence requires patience and care in usage. It makes sense to acquire some familiarity with basic functions of Zoom.
In order the meeting to run smoothly and to be enjoyable to participants and to lecturers alike, we would like to suggest that participants adhere to following rules:

  1. We strongly suggest that all participants register for the conference and indicate an email where we could reached you (e.g., in a hopefully unlikely event that we will have to change a password for the meeting or if we experience technical issues with Zoom).
  2. Zoom meeting will be recorded. Please do not share a screen unless prompted by hosts.
  3. Zoom meeting configured in such a way that participants are entering the meeting room muted and without video. You are free to turn on video (and even welcomed to do so in order to create live experience for the meeting). We kindly ask you to keep your mic muted, unless you asked by a host to unmute it or during discussions/breaks.
  4. In order to ask a question during a lecture, please "rise hand" in Zoom (to locate the corresponding button, press "Participants" in the main menu tool bar and it will open a window with all participants. On the bottom, you will see "rise/lower hand" option). The host will then interrupt the lecturer and unmute you so that you will be able to ask a question.  Also, note that there is a live blog where you can ask other participants a question without interrupting a lecturer.
  5. Zoom is a new and often updated program. We suggest you update it before the meeting. We also suggest that you login into your Zoom account (there are free accounts available in Zoom) and participate in the meeting through the stand-alone Zoom app with your ID. In certain situation (which we hope to avoid), it is not possible to use Zoom via a browser or without logging into an account.

We wish everyone a successful conference!
