EU - Horizon Europe - Horizontal Activities
INTRODUCTION AND WORK PROGRAMME
The Horizontal calls are a new addition to Horizon Europe aimed at connecting different parts of Horizon Europe to support key strategic areas. Unlike traditional cluster-specific calls, these offer a fresh approach to achieving EU policy goals by pooling resources across disciplines and bridging different research clusters for greater impact.
The Horizontal calls are intentionally built around non-prescriptive and broadly defined topics guided by a shared strategic direction, giving applicants the flexibility to propose different approaches for achieving the expected outcomes.
Calls under the 2026-2027 Work Programme will focus on two topics:
- R&I in Support of the Clean Industrial Deal
- AI in Science
