Weizmann Canada was honoured to host Prof. Yaron Lipman from the Weizmann Institute's Department of Computer Science and Applied Mathematics from October 15-17.

Prof. Lipman was visiting Toronto for Weizmann Canada’s annual Celebrating Philanthropy event, and he spoke about the current state of artificial intelligence at two additional events in Calgary and Montreal. In Montreal, Prof. Lipman was joined by Andy Mauro, Co-Founder and CEO of Automat, for a panel moderated by Alex Shee, Director of Industry Solutions and Corporate Development at Element AI.

Prof. Lipman shared some examples of using AI to disseminate expertise, namely the development of a prototype for a heart ultrasound to generate important data which can be administered by a lay person. His research will be part of the future Artificial Intelligence Center for Scientific Exploration.

Both the Montreal and Calgary AI events were well attended with around 120 guests, including many new to Weizmann, particularly from the next generation.
