Freshly squeezed science breakfast with Avital Hahamy

Weizmann UK’s first event of 2019 got the year off to a great start with a captivating presentation from Dr. Avital Hahamy about her research exploring what can be learned about the brain by observing its resting state.

Dr. Hahamy completed her PhD in neuroscience at the Weizmann Institute of Science and is now undertaking her postdoctoral studies at UCL. Her research is inspired by the hope that a better understanding of brain function could enable better diagnoses and treatment for people who live with mental or physical disabilities. She spoke passionately about her motivation to pursue a career in science and paid tribute to the Weizmann Institute. She said: “The Weizmann Institute really is the best place you can find.” The breakfast was attended by around 35 guests and Dr. Hahamy was warmly welcomed by our host Avi Lavi at Alliance Bernstein.

Dr. Hahamy also gave a presentation on her research to Trustees of Weizmann UK at their February Board meeting.

Avital Hahamy is a recipient of the Weizmann Institute’s Israel National Postdoctoral Award for Advancing Women in Science, which offers generous grants to women scientists performing their postdoctoral studies abroad.
