Your role will include:

The Department of Chemical Research Infrastructure at the Weizmann Institute of Science is seeking a Cleanroom Equipment Technician / Practical Engineer.

The position includes responsibility for the maintenance, operation, and support of advanced research equipment in a cleanroom environment.
Responsibilities include, among others:

  • Identifying, diagnosing, and repairing technical malfunctions, as well as assisting in equipment operation
  • Maintaining, calibrating, and operating complex equipment (particularly vacuum systems), including proper documentation
  • Planning and developing functions tailored to researchers’ requirements
  • Training equipment users on cleanroom procedures and safe operation of the equipment
  • Coordinating and documenting the use of research equipment in the booking system
  • Implementing policies and guidelines and providing regular reports to supervisors on cleanroom activities

Skills and abilities:

Technician or Practical Engineer certificate in a relevant field (Electronics / Mechanics / Chemistry or similar) – mandatory
(B.Sc. in Electronics or Mechanics – an advantage)

  • At least 3 years of experience in maintenance of scientific equipment or work in a laboratory/cleanroom environment
    (for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree – at least 2 years of experience)
  • Hands-on experience with vacuum systems (pneumatics, cooling, plasma, RF, high voltage, etc.) – mandatory
  • Familiarity with quality and safety standards relevant to research laboratories and cleanrooms – mandatory
  • Experience working in an academic or research institute – an advantage
  • Experience in training or teaching – an advantage
  • Fluent Hebrew and English, with the ability to read and understand technical literature in English
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong time management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
  • High level of interpersonal communication and service orientation
