Your role will include:

Project Management at BINA - The Pre-Application Research Unit
BINA is an innovation and pre-application research unit. BINA was established to identify, nurture and assist in funding research projects with application potential that are in early research stages and are expected to yield technological applications and intellectual property. The position is based on working with researchers, continuous learning and development in various research fields, and requires deep and broad scientific understanding capabilities. The position includes, among other things:

  • Identifying basic research projects in early stages at the Weizmann Institute of Science, across various fields, and assessing their application potential.
  • Comprehensive end-to-end project management: examining scientist needs, building work plans, budgeting, defining goals and deliverables, accompanying the scientist throughout the project, presenting the project to a reviewing committee, measuring project performance using project management tools, monitoring and reporting.
  • Close collaboration with scientists and senior industry professionals.
  • Familiarity with industry professionals and ability to recruit them for professional guidance in projects, managing engagement with them, monitoring performance.
  • Working across multiple interfaces, within the institute and beyond.

Skills and abilities:

  • PhD in Life Sciences or Exact Sciences – Required
  • At least 10 years of experience in research laboratories, including at least 3-5 years of experience in Israeli industry – Required
  • Experience in managing and planning scientific projects, across different knowledge domains, in multiple interfaces and with researchers and academics
  • High-level proficiency in Hebrew and English, including scientific English writing and speaking skills – Required
  • Ability for broad perspective, driving and leading processes – Required
  • Ability to search, read and analyze professional scientific literature
  • Responsibility, organizational skills, attention to detail and independent learning ability
  • Systems thinking, initiative and continuous desire to improve and optimize work processes
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize in a dynamic environment
  • High-level interpersonal communication and service orientation
