AWARD MECHANISM: The Travel Grants Program focuses on PhD students doing research that requires facilities or expertise not available in their home countries, that are not in their final year towards completion of the degree. The program will not support participation in conferences. There are 2 calls per year, each supports 10 trips with a budget of $4,000 each. The support is only for travel to a higher education or research facility in the U.S.A. (for Israelis) or Israel (for Americans) for a maximum length of 2 months.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Ph.D. students who are NOT in their last year of their degree can apply (M.Sc. students and post-docs are not eligible).
  • Applicants must be U.S. or Israeli citizens, 35 years old or younger.
  • Israeli students already doing research in the USA or alternatively US students already doing research in Israel, are NOT eligible to apply.
SCIENTIFIC AREAS : Applications in ALL fields supported by the BSF can be submitted each year. For a full list, see Eligible Areas of Research.

SUBMISSION DATE(S):

  • 8 April 2013 to the FGS for pre-selection (full proposal to be submitted to the BSF by 2 May 2013 - for those invited to submit).

MODE OF APPLICATION: Guidelines and forms are available on the BSF website. Please submit your proposal by email to Dalia.Greenberg@weizmann.ac.il at the Feinberg Graduate School. From among the proposals submitted to the FGS, up to 10 (5 WIS applicants AND 5 US applicants) will be selected by an internal review committee for submission to the BSF.
