EFSD - JDRF - Roche Young Investigator Awards in Innovative Therapy for Type 1 Diabetes

AWARD MECHANISM: Applicants must be under the age of 35 (PhD) or 38 (MD) unless special reasons indicate otherwise (military service, mothers with children, etc). Regardless of age, candidates will have received their doctorate (MD, PhD or equivalent) and have at least 3 but no more than 5 years of research experience at the time of application. Applications from candidates with medical training in addition to research experience will be viewed most favourably. The award is for €50,000 per year for 2 years. SCIENTIFIC AREAS: Innovative therapy of type 1 diabetes. Projects focusing on (i) cell-based therapy or regenerative medicine, (ii) immunotherapy or (iii) gene therapy approaches for type 1 diabetes are of particular interest. SUBMISSION DATE(S): 29 March 2011 - to the RGP (to reach the EFSD by 5 April 2011). ACTIVATION DATE(S): June 2011. MODE OF APPLICATION: Explicit guidelines are available.
