Future Leaders in Ageing Research in Europe (FLARE)

AWARD MECHANISM: Fellowships are open to applications from candidates who embrace the two innovative features of the programme: part of the fellowship must be spent in another country and it must also involve a cross-disciplinary collaboration.

SCIENTIFIC AREAS: The programme offers funding for a 3-year postdoctoral research post in ageing research. The 3-year grant comprises a main project part of 24-30 months carried out at a home institution hosting the project, with a mobility part of 6-12 months to a receiving institution in a different research field (preferably another discipline) in another country. The home institution has to be located in a country participating in the FLARE 2 joint call, while the receiving institutions can be major research institutions or established research groups in ageing research across Europe (EU 27 and associated countries).

ELIGIBILITY:

1. Applicants have to have received their doctorate within 6 years of application.
2. Applications must be submitted with two research institutions of which at least one is an ageing research institution or group in Europe (i.e. EU 27 countries & associated countries).
3. The proposed institution to be visited for the 6-12 months mobility period must confirm in writing that it will host the proposed applicant and guarantee the required access to its equipment, facilities and resources. Statement of integration: The institution must demonstrate that it has robust plans to integrate the applicant in a multidisciplinary ageing research team.

SUBMISSION DATE(S): 10 October 2010 - to the RGP (to reach IMOH by 15 October 2010).

ACTIVATION DATE: 1 June 2011.

MODE OF APPLICATION: The application must be prepared according to both IMOH guidelines and explicit guidelines issued by ERA-AGE. Applications must be typed on ERA-AGE forms and submitted to the RGP in one hard copy, as well as by email to Chief.scientist@moh.health.gov.il with a CC to the RGP. Please make sure to provide the RGP with copies of your application for review at least one week in advance of the submission deadline, and of the final versions of the application for submission and follow-up purposes.
