AWARD MECHANISM: Since 2006, IMOS has been offering annual Space Agency for Scientific Research Fellowships to cover living expenses for Ph.D students and Postdocs in memory of the late Colonel Ilan Ramon.

SCIENTIFIC AREAS: The focus this year is on interdisciplinary research in the Planetary Sciences, i.e., scientific research of planets, moons and planetary systems. In particular, systems connected to the solar system and their creation processes. Priority areas are:

  • Earth observation from space.
  • Developing methods and miniature electronic and electro-optic devices with space applicability potential.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Ph.D students and Postdocs who dedicate most of their time to research.
  • If successful, the researcher MUST partake in 100 hours of volunteer activities.

AMOUNT:

  • Ph.D Fellowships: ₪250,000 per fellowship
  • Postdoctoral Fellowships: ₪200,000 per fellowship

NUMBER OF AWARDS: 2 awards altogether.

SUPPORT PERIOD:

  • Ph.D Fellowships: 3 years.
  • Postdoctoral Fellowship: 2 years.

SUBMISSION DATE(S): 24 May 2011 - to the RGP (to reach IMOS by 31 May 2011)

ACTIVATION DATE(S): October 2011.


MODE OF APPLICATION: The application must be prepared according to IMOS-Ramon guidelines on IMOS-Ramon application forms. Applications should be submitted to the RGP in 7 hard copies, as well as by email to Ramon@most.gov.il (with a CC to RGP office),in Adobe PDF or Microsoft Word format. Please make sure to provide confirmation from the Feinberg Graduate School that the post-doctoral candidate is approved for post-doc status at the Weizmann Institute for the duration of the proposed fellowship.
