AWARD MECHANISM: The ISF Bikura Fund will provide up to 6 post-doctoral fellowships for Israeli post-docs to undergo post-doctoral training in leading universities abroad, in selected innovative areas of science, with the goal of recruiting the post-docs as academic staff in Israeli institutions after the end of the fellowship period (see the Call for Proposals for more information).

SCIENTIFIC AREAS:

  • Interdisciplinary research in natural sciences
  • Systematics and taxonomy

SUPPORT PERIOD:

  • Phase 1 (Post-doc abroad): 1-2 years.
  • Phase 2 (Back in Israel): 1 year.

AMOUNT:

  • Phase 1 (Post-doc abroad): $27,000 per year + $3,500 for each accompanying family member + return airfare.
  • Phase 2 (Back in Israel): 50% of the average cost of a full position at the appropriate rank in the Israeli institutions (to be paid directly to the institutions).

SUBMISSION DATE(S): 15 December 2007 - to the Feinberg Graduate School.


MODE OF APPLICATION: There are no application forms, but the proposal should be prepared according to the guidelines in the Call for Proposals and submitted to the Feinberg Graduate School. The Feinberg Graduate School will submit the application to the ISF together with the required letter of support from the Institute.
