AWARD MECHANISM: The Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology, FCT, is a public organization created for promoting the advancement of scientific and technological knowledge in Portugal, and is offering 4 one-year training fellowships in the following areas:

  • Front-ends for Beamlines (Bending Magnet, Undulator, Wiggler)
  • Instrumentation and Electronics
  • Software and Computing specific to beamlines
  • Vacuum and Control Systems
SCIENTIFIC AREAS: SESAME is established in Jordan, under the auspices of UNESCO. Its mission is to promote international collaboration in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region using synchrotron light for basic and applied research in physics, chemistry, biology, materials science, environmental and medical investigations, archaeological studies and other research areas of relevance to the region.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • The Fellowship program is aimed at PhD students and post-doctoral scientists and/or engineers.
  • Nationals of SESAME and IAEA members (Bahrain, Cyprus, Egypt, Iran, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, Palestinian Authority and Turkey).
  • Applicants should hold a degree of Master of Science (M.Sc./M.S.) or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
SUBMISSION DATE(S): 11 November 2011.
