We employ tools from continuum mechanics, statistical mechanics and differential geometry to address a variety of problems in soft condensed matter physics. These include colloidal and biological self assembly processes, classical hydrodynamics, elastic description of thin sheets and of frustrated elastic systems. We use primarily pencil and paper, but exploit numerical simulations as needed and even occasionally sin with table-top demonstrations...
