Safety training obligation

According to the Institute's procedures and safety regulations, new employees and scholars (herein employees) must undergo a safety training upon starting the work at WIS.

Employees working in laboratories must complete safety training at three levels before starting the work in the laboratory according to the following specifications:

  1. At the research group level – The employee should read the group’s annual safety program (ASP) and sign a pledge to comply with the program's guidelines. The PI (or the lab manager) has the program, which contains specific guidelines for the risks in the laboratory.
  2. At the scientific department level – The employee should schedule a safety training with the department’s warden. The training will focus on the safety rules required by the scientific department to which the student belongs.
  3. At the Institute level - Upon enrolment at HR the employee will receive an invitation to attend a safety course. The employee must attend with no delay the training. The training will cover major risks at the Institute and the tools required to prevent exposure to hazardous chemical and biological materials, radiation, fire, ergonomics, and rules of conduct during routine times and in emergencies.

Employees that doesn’t work in laboratories will receive an invitation for training. Employees must attend with no delay this training. The training is in accordance with the employee’s role and risks in the specific working environment.
