In this moving op-ed in The New York Times on May 8, author Bret Stephens tells the story of Weizmann Board member and supporter Luis Stillmann, his survival from the Holocaust, and his life’s journey until meeting his wife Buba. Luis and Buba Stillman became longtime friends of Israel and pillars of the Mexican Association of Friends of the Weizmann Institute of Science.
In a previous interview with Weizmann Magazine, Luis said: “I am a Diaspora Jew. Just to be here in Israel and see an outstanding scientific institution is a dream that I thought I’d never see in my life. It is a major source of pride and joy for me.”
Indeed, Luis and Buba’s lives, and their lives together, is a story of a lifetime.
