Dr. Omer Yaffe

Dr. Omer Yaffe

Principal Investigator

Dr. Yaffe obtained a dual B.Sc. in chemistry and chemical engineering at Ben Gurion University in 2005.
He then completed his Ph.D. in the Department of Materials and Interfaces at the Weizmann Institute of Science in 2012, working with Prof. David Cahen.
From 2013 to 2016, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof. Louis Brus and Prof. Tony Heinz in the Columbia University, Energy Frontier Research Center.

Adi Cohen

Adi Cohen

PhD student

Adi is a student in the direct Ph.D. track program. She had her B.Sc in Chemistry at Bar-Ilan University and her M.Sc. in this group. She started her research studying the biocrystallization mechanism of amorphous calcium carbonate, collaborating with Assaf Gal from the biology department. Her M.Sc and Ph.D. projects focus on the lattice dynamics of perovskites. Adi is from Kiryat-Ono, and in her free time, she likes to study and teach Torah and work on her slogan for the 34th elections.

Guy Reuveni

Guy Reuveni

PhD student

Guy is a Ph.D. student. He obtained a dual B.Sc. in chemical engineering and chemistry at Ben-Gurion University in 2019 and an M.Sc. in this group in 2021. In his MSc, Guy studied the relation between electronic properties and structural dynamics of Halide Perovskites. This study had two parallel paths, one was the development of a new optical apparatus, and the other was a study of the unique structural dynamics of Formamidinium Lead Bromide. Guy is married +2 (one child, one dog), lives in Rehovot, adequately follows F1, and wishes he had more time to hike.

Noam Pinsk

Noam Pinsk

Msc student

Noam is an MSc student studying the dynamics of hydrogen bonding in molecular crystals. She participated in the joint honors program for BSc in Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev. During her Bachelor's studies, Noam participated in organic biomineralization research, finding the composition of optically functional biogenic guanine crystals (from fish, spiders, scallops, etc.). Noam lives in Rehovot, plays the Saxophone for fun, and always enjoys a hike, a trip to the beach and/or a cold beer.

Nimrod Benshalom

Nimrod Benshalom

Consultant

Nimrod is a Ph.D. student in the physics track studying inelastic light scattering mechanisms in finite temperatures. His research focuses on cubic inorganic structures where some hope for analytical insight still remains. He completed his B.Sc. in physics and cognitive science at the Hebrew University and his M.Sc. at Tel-Aviv University, where he performed quantum weak measurements in optical systems. Outside the lab, he enjoys scientific outreach, video games, and snow-capped mountains.
