In the Department of Condensed Matter Physics at the Weizmann Institute of Science, we study the exotic states of matter obtained when electrons or atoms interact. Our theorists and experimentalists investigate a wide variety of topics, ranging from strongly correlated systems and quantum computing to topological order and superconductivity. Our department boasts a world-leading collection of scanning probe microscopes, which we use to investigate new phases of matter in unprecedented detail.
