Dept of Biological Chemistry, WISOrganizer Department of Brain SciencesContact Abstract Show full text abstract about During development, the basic wiring of the nervous system i...» During development, the basic wiring of the nervous system is established by connecting trillions of neurons to their target cells. To reach their correct targets, neurons extend axons that are guided by cues in the extracellular environment.
The talk will describe our efforts to understand the mechanisms of axonal guidance using the somatosensory system as a model; with special focus on the role of the Semaphorins family of guidance cues in the process.
