Research activities

The hallmark of the research conducted at the Weizmann Institute of Science is its interdisciplinary nature. Biologists, chemists, mathematicians, computer scientists, and physicists in 250 labs led by principal investigators are leading thousands of investigations that serve as the underpinning for real-world applications and an ever-expanding understanding of the world.

Academic Affairs Office

The Academic Affairs Office handles all matters pertaining to the recruitment, hiring, and promotions of all faculty and staff scientists, positions for visiting scientists, honors and awards, and oversees the Scientific Council and the Council of Professors.

Centers and Institutes

Research centers and institutes are cross-disciplinary engines of investigation in diverse areas of science. They facilitate recruitment of scientists by providing start-up funds for highly original projects at a conceptual stage in which research is too preliminary to be eligible for national and international grants. And they advance the Weizmann Institute’s leadership role in key fields.

Conferences

The Weizmann Institute is an international hub of scientific research, hosting some 70 conferences per year in a wide variety of scientific areas at its world-class David Lopatie Conference Centre.

Current research activities

About 280 research groups led by principal investigators are advancing cutting-edge research across five faculties.

Research Grants Office

The Research Grants and Projects (RGP) Office provides comprehensive pre-award information, services, and support to members of the Weizmann Institute research community in their pursuit of funding opportunities, and post-award administrative services for sponsored projects.

Moross Integrated Cancer Center (MICC)

The Moross Integrated Cancer Center (MICC) pursues a wide range of studies to advance scientific understanding of this debilitating disease toward better diagnosis, care, and prevention, in order to close the gap between basic research and its biomedical application, for the benefit of patients worldwide.

The Nancy and Stephen Grand Israel National Center for Personalized Medicine (G-INCPM)

The Nancy and Stephen Grand Israel National Center for Personalized Medicine (G-INCPM) is based at and managed by the Weizmann Institute, multi-disciplinary teams of scientists, clinicians, biomedical and pharmaceutical companies conduct research involving genomics, protein profiling, bioinformatics, and drug discovery translate those insights to the clinic for the benefit of human health.
