Safety measures while working with chemicals

  1. Laboratory employees must be familiar with health risks that can be caused due to exposure to chemicals which they work with and must be familiar with precautions in order to prevent exposure.
  2. Avoid direct contact with any hazardous chemicals. Know the suitable protective equipment required to prevent exposure and use it during your work.
  3. Replace personal protective equipment if needed. Do not use damaged protective equipment.
  4. Confine long hair, do not wear loose clothing. 
  5. Eating and drinking are allowed only in designated area.
  6. It is not allowed to store chemicals in food packages.
  7. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling chemicals, before eating or drinking and before leaving the laboratory.
