The Weizmann Institute of Science rents accommodations to foreign Visiting Scientists and Postdoctoral Fellows, subject to availability, for periods of one month to a maximum of two years. The apartments in the Lunenfed-Kunin, Europe House and Kipnis Complex are very close to the campus.

Single visitors are accommodated in shared apartments in the Kipnis Complex - two or three scientists share the kitchen, living room and bathroom and each has his/her own bedroom.

Visitors coming with accompanying persons are accommodated in one, two or three-bedrooms apartments in one of the three housing complexes.

There are also many rooms and apartments for rent in Rehovot, near the campus. Contact us for more information.

 Barbecues
Please do not grill or barbecue on the balconies of the apartments without the consent of your neighbors.

 Cleaning Services
All cleaning services are on a private basis only.

 Cooking Gas
All of our apartments enjoy a central gas supply.

 Electricity
In Israel, the electric current is 220v.

 Food
We have compiled a list of standard food items, with their Hebrew names and English equivalents for easy reference. You can access the complete list, or refer separately to vegetables, fruit, herbs and spices, baking and beverage terms, or a list of fish-poultry-meat items.

 Garbage Disposal
Lunenfeld-Kunin Residence: bins are located in the parking lot
Europe House: bins are located in the back of the western wing
Kipnis Street Complex: bins are located in the parking lot near Bldg. # 16

Please keep the areas around bins clean.

 Home Insurance
We strongly advise you to insure your valuables. The Institute cannot be held responsible for thefts. Contact us for more information about local home insurances.

 Housing Office
The Housing Office is located on the ground floor of the Lunenfeld-Kunin Residence. Office Hours are from Sunday to Thursday, 08:30 - 16:00.

 Irons
Irons can be borrowed, for short-term visitors only. Contact Iris at ext. 3343.

 Inventory

 Maintenance & Repairs
During working hours contact Geula Yacobi at ext. 3955. After office hours, for emergencies only, contact the Moked Emergency Service at ext. 3333.

 Pets
Sorry, but pets are not allowed in our apartments. Please refrain from feeding stray cats, as they might become a nuisance for your neighbors.

 Rent and Utilities
Utilities(*) are included in your rent. Rent is billed at the beginning of each month, or a few days before departure in the case of a short stay.

*Note: Utilities are understood to include average use of gas, electricity and phone. Over-average usage will be charged, after one warning. For reference, we estimate the bi-monthly (i.e. every two months) average usage of Gas at NIS 50.00, Electricity at NIS 600.00, Phone at NIS 200.00, and Water at NIS 100.00.

  1. Bills can be paid at the Cashier's Office, Room 107 in the Stone Administration Building. Office hours are Sunday - Thursday, 08:00 - 12:30.
  2. Cash, credit cards, or personal checks are accepted.
  3. Upon request, rent may be automatically deducted each month from a fellowship/scholarship/funding.
  4. For all billing inquiries, contact Ms. Tamar Kantarovich, ext. 3495 or 2236, Room 207 in the Stone Administration Building.

 Rest Hours
Be aware that rest hours in Israel are traditionally between 14:00-16:00, and between 23:00-07:00. During this time, one should refrain from making noise indoors and outdoors, and make sure children are engaged in quiet activities inside the home.

 Upkeep
Visitors are responsible for the cleaning and upkeep of their apartments.

 Vacuum Cleaners
There are several vacuum cleaners at your disposal in the housing office. To borrow one, contact Iris Mor-Mizrahi at ext. 3343.

 Washing Machines and Dryers
Machines are located on the ground floor of the Lunenfeld-Kunin Residences, and of the Europe House. The machines are token-operated. Tokens cost NIS 7 each, and may be purchased either at the Housing Office or at the Office of Visiting Scientists (VSO).
