Insurance

  UMSKupat Holim Meuchedet Emergency Room MaternityNational Insurance

All visitors and their families must be covered by a reliable health insurance plan, one which includes hospitalization. The institute is not responsible for medical insurance or health care expenses.

Visitors who arrive without insurance may join either of two local health insurance plans:

  1. UMS (University Medical Services),
    offered by the Shiloah insurance company. For information contact: y_health@netvision.net.il

    Shiloah's representatives receive visitors on campus every Monday between 10:00 - 11:45, at the Feinberg Graduate School, near the secretarial offices.

  2. Kupat Holim Meuchedet (United Sick Fund), 23 Binyamin St.
    restricted to those under 52 years of age and staying in Israel for at least one year.
    Recommended for families.
    Does not cover hospitalization for the initial four months.

 Emergency Room
Before going to the hospital emergency room, call your relevant health insurance representative:

 Maternity
Maternity costs are partially reimbursed to female postdoctoral fellows/visiting scientists who pay the Israeli Social Security Tax (Bituach Le’umi) through their funding.

Delivery expenses are not covered by the local medical plans.

 National Insurance
It is compulsory for every person receiving funding in NS to pay dues to the National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi). The dues are automatically deducted from your fellowship.
