 Categories

  B-2 (Tourist) Issued (before arrival or upon arrival at the airport, depending on nationality) to Visiting Scientists and to accompanying persons.
Can be extended by the Ministry of the Interior for up to a maximum of 24 consecutive months.
 
  B-1
(Temporary work permit)
Issued in Israel -to visiting scientists receiving funding.
The Office of Visiting Scientists will assist you in changing a B-2 tourist visa to a B-1 working permit. The decision to grant a temporary permit rests with the Ministry of the Interior.
Note: A person accompanying a visiting scientist (i.e. a holder of a B-2 visa) can be granted a working permit (B-1 visa) only if he or she received a job proposal before entering the country.
 
  Multiple Entries Visa Issued to B-1 visa holders wishing to leave and return before their visa expires.
 
  A-2 Issued to students and postdoctoral fellows (includes multiple entries).
Note:  A-2 visa holders cannot obtain any B visa while in the country.
 
  A-4 Issued to accompanying persons of A-2 visa holders (includes multiple entries).
