Research Projects

We have two main research directions in our laboratory:

Molecular analysis of DNA damage tolerance and mutagenesis in mammals

This includes mechanisms that allow overcoming DNA lesions without actually removing them from DNA:

  1. Translesion DNA synthesis (TLS), also termed error-prone repair, which overcomes replication obstacles at the price of point mutations.
  2. Homology-dependent repair (HDR), also termed post-replication repair, homologous recombination repair or template switch, which overcomes DNA damage by using the homologous sequence from the sister chromatid.

Harnessing DNA repair to fight cancer

This includes using the power of DNA repair for cancer prevention, risk assessment and early detection.
