Fakarouni פקרוני فكروني | Orly Portal

“This dance is like a love song for love, for all my lovers, a song of praise for the
ability to be a loving woman who does not depend on love.” Orly Portal.
Fakarouni is a stirring dance of passion, a stormy ritual dance which, from a very
personal aspect, reveals the connection between the temporary body and eternal
love. For the first time, Portal has chosen to dance with men, who have adopted her
unique language of dance, against a background of a live recording of the singer
and musician Umm Kulthum.
Music and poetry are woven together in the sweeping ritual movement of the body
creating a fascinating display of the myth of passion.

Choreography: Orly Portal
Dancers: Anderson Braz, Arthur Estman, Orly Portal.
Music: Fakarouni – words and music by Mohammed Abdel Wahab, performed by
Umm Kulthum.

Duration: approximately 60 minutes.
