London National Theatre Live on Screen - A Streetcar Named Desire | Tennessee Williams
As part of a series of plays on the London theatre stage specially filmed for the big screen – the first screening this season will be Tennessee Williams’ classic, starring Gillian Anderson (Sex Education), Vanessa Kirby (The Crown), and Ben Foster (Lone Survivor) leading the cast in Tennessee Williams’ timeless masterpiece.
As Blanche’s fragile world crumbles, she turns to her sister Stella for solace, but her downward spiral brings her face-to-face with the brutal, unforgiving Stanley Kowalski. A meeting that leads to a head-on collision, culminating in an eruption of passions and secrets that threaten to shatter her mind. Anderson is mesmerizing as Blanche DuBois, a woman whose fragility and illusions clash with reality, while Andrews’ direction heightens the emotional tension born of the chemistry between the actors.
