Sentimental Value | Joachim Trier

In the Jerusalem Film Festival’s opening film, director Joachim Trier reunites with Renate Reinsve (“The Worst Person in the World”) for a moving drama that stunned the Cannes Film Festival, earning a 19-minute round of applause alongside winning the Jury Prize.
After the death of Nora’s mother, her father (a renowned film director) reenters her life and offers her the lead role in a new autobiographical piece he is working on. Nora refuses, and the role is given instead to a promising American actress, altering the course of the film. Between her mother’s absence, her father’s return, and the film production, Nora and her sister attempt to navigate a labyrinth of conflicting emotions and their yearning to begin a new chapter in their lives.
