Tel Aviv Prayer | Yoni Rechter with Roni Kuban on Eli Mohar
Yoni Rechter and Eli Mohar collaborated for over thirty years, a relationship that began with songwriting, continued with writing for theatre and cinema, and also on stage in a joint performance. Roni Kuban talks to Yoni Rechter about this special meeting, how it began, and how songs such as ‘My only love’, ‘She's here again’, and ‘Cosmic prophetic song’ were written. ‘As long as’, for example, that brought each’s ability to its peak, or so it seems.
A meeting of words to melodies, and songs that have never been heard before, some from a shelved musical and also nonsense songs.
Yoni Rechter, one of the most original and interesting Israeli musical artists in the past 40 years, influenced by jazz, rock, east and west, songs that are characterized by a sensitivity to the text, most of which became classics, for adults and children. Rechter composed music for theater and cinema, three operas, and his work ‘Musical images from Pirkei Avot’ was released about two years ago in Jerusalem. He performs throughout the country with his band. Currently, he is working on musical compositions for the play ‘Winnie the Pooh’ at Gesher Theatre.
