Our lab deciphers the dynamics of cellular metabolism in cancer. In particular, we are interested in understanding the contribution of catabolism, the breakdown of macromolecules, to the pathogenesis of anabolic diseases such as cancer. Our disease models are cells, mice, and human patients. Each study starts with a clinically relevant question and ends with translational implications. Our research integrates tumorigenesis within the context of the host for identifying specific metabolic alterations during disease that can improve diagnosis, progression monitoring, and therapeutic interventions.
