The constant demand for miniaturization of the electronic components requires new type of materials and technologies, which will ensure operation of the scaled components. Yet another approach development of the novel components which utilize not only the electron's charge but also its spin degree of freedom.

There is much interest in the self assembled organic monolayers due to their ability to modify the electronic properties of their substrates.

The interest is fueled by the possible role that these thin films can play in innovative electronic devices. This project is being carried out in collaboration with Ron Naaman's Group from the Chemical Physics Department here at the Weizmann Institute.
