Field
Development and function of the hypothalamus
Research Focus
We study morphogenesis, cell biology and function of hypothalamic neurons, which regulate appetite, stress and social behavior

We utilizes zebrafish to investigate development and function the hypothalamus, which regulate fundamental body functions including sleep, blood pressure, temperature, hunger and metabolism, thirst and satiety, stress and social behavior.

Main resaech directions are:

  • Development, cell biology and function of the hypothalamo-neurohypophyseal system (HNS) - a key neuro-vascular interface between the brain and the blood.
  • Impact of early developmental processes on physiological functions of the mature hypothalamus, focusing on stress response and social behavior.
