Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are the three R’s to remember whether you are in lab or at home. It’s really a no brainer – but requires your active help! In this section you will find tips and information on the recycling options available on campus in both the resident and scientific areas. We can provide the necessary infrastructure and information but need your help to make it work.
Why Do It?
Based on Yale scientists estimates, somewhere around mid-august 2010, the world population has used up all the resources that earth will produce throughout this year. The future of our children depends on us not using more than earth can provide, Reduce, reuse and recycle are the only way to reach this goal.
Landfills are using up expensive lands and are thus moved away from the cities (to the Negev). Transporting trash to these sites now involve longer trips and more burning of fossil fuels. This has caused the dumping costs (heitel Hatmana) to go up consistently making reduction of waste an important economic goal.
