Reduce, Reuse and Recycle are the three R’s to remember whether you are in lab or at home. It’s really a no brainer – but requires your active help! In this section you will find tips and information on the recycling options available on campus in both the resident and scientific areas. We can provide the necessary infrastructure and information but need your help to make it work.
What Is Being Done?
Currently we can recycle paper, cardboard, small plastic bottles and cans, batteries, broken glass, used lamps and more
Recently added:
- Cardboard reuse and recycling activities.
- Elimination of plastic cups from San Martin restaurant.
- Clear information on specific recycling materials.
- Stickers on recycling bins to label what goes in each bin.
Planned:
- An upgrade to the recycling mechanism. This will include addition of recycling bins, better labeling, upgrade of containers and more frequent pickup.
- Composting organic waste from residential areas. This should decrease residential garbage by up to 40%. Stay tuned for information regarding this program.
