The Cancer Heterogeneity lab headed by Prof. Itay Tirosh is looking for a staff scientist with deep interest in cancer, and with expertise in either experimental biology, computational biology or ideally with both.
The lab is investigating cellular heterogeneity within and across tumors, primarily through extensive single cell and spatial analysis of patient tumor samples obtained from hospitals, with the ultimate goal to develop new therapeutic strategies.
Role Description:
- Lead independent research projects in the field of cancer cellular heterogeneity.
- Mentor graduate students and support their professional development.
- Write grant applications and scientific manuscripts.
- Work within a lab that integrates both computational and experimental approaches — with two possible tracks depending on expertise:
Experimental track – Lead the experimental component of the lab while collaborating with computational students.
Computational track – Play a central role in computational projects and in mentoring computational students. - Analyze single-cell and spatial data from patient tumor samples obtained from hospitals.
- Contribute to the development of new therapeutic strategies based on research findings.
Skills and abilities:
- PhD and postdoc in Life Sciences or in a related computational field, with a good publication record
