Your role will include:

The Weizmann Institute of Science is seeking a Chemical Safety and Occupational Hygiene Officer for a key role responsible for maintaining a safe and advanced working environment in cutting-edge research laboratories.

Job Description:
Responsibility for chemical safety and occupational hygiene across the Institute’s laboratories
Development, writing, and updating of safety procedures and programs related to hazardous materials and occupational hygiene
Monitoring and implementation of regulatory requirements, including leading internal and external audits
Conducting inspections and laboratory walkthroughs, identifying hazards, and providing professional recommendations
Training and guiding employees, researchers, and students on chemical safety practices
Handling hazardous material incidents and providing response during routine operations and emergencies
Preparing risk assessments for laboratories and Institute facilities
Responsibility for documentation of workplace accidents and coordination with regulatory authorities
Working with multiple internal and external interfaces
 

Skills and abilities:

  • Academic degree in Occupational Hygiene, Occupational Health, or a scientific field (Chemistry / Biology / Environmental Sciences or a related discipline)
  • Valid certification as a Safety Officer – required
  • Experience working in a chemical or biological laboratory in academia or industry – an advantage
  • Full proficiency in Hebrew and English, including strong writing and training skills
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to work in a team with excellent interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and willingness to work additional hours when needed
  • High service orientation and ability to work with diverse stakeholders
  • Strong motivation to learn and develop professionally
