The WSoS student and postdoc award for advancing Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at the Weizmann Institute of Science 2025
How do we create a true sense of belonging? And how do we build a community where everyone feels at home?
At the Weizmann Institute of Science, we believe innovation happens when people from different backgrounds come together. Even in a year as challenging as this one – security-wise, personally, and socially we've continued working toward creating a diverse, supportive and inclusive community.
On World Day for Cultural Diversity, we're proud to announce Einav Berin as the recipient of the 2025 Student Award for Volunteering and Diversity Promotion. Einav volunteers as a physics teacher at an Arab high school in Lod, helps displaced students, and promotes women in science.
Honorable mentions also go to Elisheva Berent-Barzel for mentoring ultra-Orthodox women in science and Dr. Ryan Felkai for founding the "Language Exchange Club" at Weizmann, which bridges cultures through conversation among students and postdocs.
"Diversity and inclusion aren't goals - they're a way of life," says Dr. Meytal Eran Jona, Head of the Office for Diversity and Inclusion, the office behind this initiative. "A place that sees the person behind the title and embraces different voices from everyone who is part of it is a place where science without boundaries can flourish".
