Apple Time Machine is one of the integrated applications that come with your Mac.
It is activated whenever an external drive is detected and, if defined, performs an automatic backup of your Mac onto the connected drive.

Apple Time Machine is considered to be a highly recommended method for backing up your Mac.

An external drive must be connected to your Mac in order to perform backups using the Apple Time Machine.

Installation Instructions 

  1. Connect an external drive to your Mac.
  2. The Time Machine configuration window opens (this may take a few seconds).
  3. In the configuration window, define the drive as a Time Machine Backup destination.
  4. The backup process will commence in approximately 2 minutes.
