Overleaf is an online collaborative writing and publishing tool that makes the entire process of writing, editing and publishing scientific documents quick and easy. Overleaf provides the convenience of an easy-to-use LaTeX editor, combined with real-time collaboration, producing fully compiled output automatically in the background, as you type.

Registration

To register, browse to https://www.overleaf.com/org/weizmann and click Sign Up.
Existing Overleaf users who registered previously with the Weizmann email address were automatically upgraded to the Professional edition.

Users with non-Weizmann email address can change it to their institutional in order to receive the Professional edition upgrade.

    Link sharing allows you to share your projects via secret links. Just turn on link sharing, send the link to your co-authors, and they can review, comment and edit. Simply turn the link off to make your project private again.
    Private invites allow you to invite select, named collaborators to access your projects.

  • Automatic real-time preview
    Overleaf compiles your project in the background, and its automatic real-time preview lets you see the output PDF right away. This is great for learning, and helps avoid building up errors in your project. You can switch preview on or off, as desired.

  • Real-time change tracking and commenting
    With real-time commenting and integrated chat, you can discuss your work without having to switch to e-mail, printed versions or any other tool. You can leave comments, provide quick feedback and resolve issues, all within Overleaf. You can also keep track of every change made to your project, as well as of the specific person who made it. Accept or reject individual changes quickly with a click of a button, and move onto the next change requiring your attention, all within the editor.

    Prefer to see less code when you’re writing? Working with colleagues more familiar with WYSIWYG editors, such as Microsoft Word? If so, simply switch to editing in Overleaf's rich text mode, which renders headings, images, formatting and equations directly in the editor.
    If you prefer to edit directly in LaTeX, you may naturally switch back to that at any time.

  • Quickly track down LaTeX errors
    Overleaf shows you errors and warnings as you go, so you can catch them early. It displays them inline, saving you the trouble of having to search for them in the LaTeX log.
