In order for Mac users to connect to Tafnit, they need to use Citrix Workspace, a system that enables Mac users to use remote windows apps. The user will be able to connect and work on Tafnit (via Citrix Workspace), and transfer files (via a shared folder).

In order to setup Tafnit via Citrix Workspace, log into the Weizmann Self Service app with the username and password of the user. Under the Productivity tab, there are 2 icons of the Citrix – Citrix Workspace, and Citrix Documents Shortcut.

 

Installation Instructions 

Setup Citrix Workspace, and connect to Tafnit:

  1. Install “Citrix Workspace” from the Weizmann Self Service (if not already installed), or from the downloaded file.
  2. Open Citrix Workspace from the Dock, or the icon on the right side of the top menu bar.
  3. If prompted, enter this server address: https://wis-xenapp.weizmann.ac.il, and click OK.
  4. Enter the user’s credentials, and log-in.
  5. Click “remember my password” to save the password.
  6. In the Citrix Workspace window, click the plus (+) sign, and add the Tafnit icon.
  7. You can also add other apps, for example “Terminal Documents” or “Printers”
  8. Click the Tafnit icon in order to open Tafnit.
  9. The first time sometimes takes a while, while the account is created on the Citrix server.
  10. You can now work in Tafnit as usual.

 

 

Transfer Files to and from Tafnit:

  1. Install “Citrix Documents Shortcut” from the Weizmann Self Service.
  2. After the installation is over, the computer will try to connect to the Citrix Documents folder automatically.
  3. Enter the Weizmann Username and password. You can also check the “Remember this password…” option to save the password for future log-ins.
  4. Click Connect and you will see the Citrix documents on the Desktop.
  5. You can get files saved via Tafnit to this folder, or copy files from the user’s Mac, in order to upload to Tafnit.
  6. The icon “Citrix Shortcut” will be on the Dock, in order to connect to this folder again quickly.

 

 

  • Opening the first file after logging in in Tafnit (for example a PDF file) sometimes take about 30 seconds for the first file. The user should wait until the file opens. Afterwards other files will work much quicker.
