Your role will include:
The Wolf Center at the Weizmann Institute of Science is seeking a Computational Researcher to develop AI/ML solutions and investigate the molecular mechanisms underlying neurodegenerative diseases. This highly collaborative role sits at the intersection of Machine Learning, Computational Biology, and Biomedical Research, integrating real-world clinical data and molecular experiments to develop innovative disease prediction models and identify potential therapeutic targets.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, design, and execute AI/ML-driven biomedical research projects in collaboration with biologists and clinicians.
- Develop predictive models that integrate real-world clinical data with molecular experimental data.
- Apply advanced computational approaches, including deep learning, computer vision, statistical genetics, causal inference, and multi-omics analysis.
- Translate research findings into insights with the potential to advance novel therapeutic strategies.
Skills and abilities:
- MSc/PhD in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning (ML).
- Proficiency in Python.
- Experience working with high-throughput biomedical data (e.g., genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, electronic health records, or clinical imaging), disease biology, or medicine – an advantage.
- Experience developing in a Linux environment – an advantage.
- Scientific publications in AI/ML, Computational Biology, or Bioinformatics – an advantage.
- Motivation to work in an academic research environment.
