Adobe Creative Cloud is a suite of software applications and online services enabling graphics creation, editing, sharing and publishing.

The suite offers workgroups and individual users alike access to all Adobe desktop and other software applications, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, After Effects, Illustrator, InDesign, Encore, Flash Pro, DreamWeaver, Acrobat and others. The Adobe Creative Cloud subscription also provides immediate access to any new software applications and upgrades.

Adobe’s cloud services enable you to build and publish Internet Web sites and mobile device applications.The Adobe Creative Cloud suite offers cloud storage and folder synchronization options, with each member of the Creative Cloud for Teams service provided 100 GBs of cloud storage, allowing you to truly effortlessly share ideas and concepts with your colleagues.

To install Adobe Creative Cloud:

1. Access the Weizmann Self Service app.
2. Install Creative Cloud from the Adobe category.
3. Install your preferred application from the CC menu.

The ChemDraw software application is ideal for chemical structure building and editing. For more information on the application, see the Revvity Signals Web site.

The Weizmann Institute of Science has a site license for ChemDraw Professional 23, provided by Weizmann IT.

To Install ChemDraw:

1. Create an account for the Revvity Signals Download Center. Be sure to use your Weizmann Institute e-mail address on the form.
2. Follow the instructions provided in the verification and account creation e-mails you will receive.
3. Access the Download Center and use your credentials to log in.
4. On the List Entitlements page, see the activation code and download link.

EndNote is a commercial reference management software package that can be employed to manage bibliographies and references when writing essays and articles.

It may only be installed on computers that are property of the Weizmann Institute, with version 20 being the most recent version of the application used at the Institute. For more information, visit the EndNote Web site.

To register for an EndNote license and install the software on an institute-owned computer, access the IT Service Catalog.

Grammarly’s AI-powered applications help people communicate more effectively. Millions of users rely on Grammarly every day to make their messages, documents and social media posts clear, mistake-free and impactful.

Grammarly’s sophisticated AI not only corrects your grammatical mistakes. It also makes your writing more understandable, and helps you make the right impression on your readers, as per specific audience interests and goals. In addition, Grammarly is able to check the tone of your correspondence, provide synonym suggestions to make your text more legible and precise, and even check your documents for plagiarism. With Grammarly, you can rest assured that your writing is always held to the highest standard.

Registration

To register for Grammarly, perform the following:

1. Make sure that you’re connected to the internal Weizmann network.
2. Access the IT Service Catalog on your browser.
3. Log in with your Weizmann user ID and password.
4. Click Send to complete registration.
5. Follow the instructions provided in the e-mail you will receive from Grammarly once registered.

Mathematica is a powerful software tool serving scientific research, engineering analysis and modeling, technical education and quantitative method application, with support for simple calculations, as well as for large-scale programming and interactive document preparation. Should you require a standalone license, you will need to purchase one through IT Service Catalog.

To install Mathematica:

1. Mathematica is available only on Weizmann Campus network.
2. Access the Weizmann Self Service app.
3. Install Mathematica from the Science Apps category.
4. Run Mathematica from the Applications folder.
5. For a network license, when asked for an activation key, select Network under Additional Options, then enter mathematica.weizmann.ac.il.
6. For a standalone license - enter the serial number you purchased.

MATLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment for numerical computation, visualization, and programming. Using MATLAB, you can analyze data, develop algorithms, and create models and applications.

The MATLAB language, tools and built-in math functions enable you to explore multiple approaches and reach solutions faster than you normally would with spreadsheets or such traditional programming languages as C/C++ and Java.

To install MATLAB:

1. Access the MATLAB portal.
2. Click Sign in to get started.
3. Create a Mathworks account with your Weizmann e-mail address. If you already have a Mathworks account, log into it. An Individual license will be linked to the account automatically.
4. Download the MATLAB installer.
5. During installation, use your Mathworks login credentials to activate the software.

To renew the license of an existing MATLAB installation:

1. On the Home tab, in the Resources section, click Help > Licensing > Update Current Licenses. MATLAB displays a list of all your MathWorks licenses on this computer, with their status.
2. Select Individual license and click Update. MATLAB will contact MathWorks to retrieve the most current version of the license file.

Microsoft 365 is Microsoft's latest family of Office productivity software products, and related collaboration and Cloud-based services.

New Institute computers come pre-installed with this latest Office suite, which introduces a range of new features and some key benefits over other Office versions, as well as frequent application updates that keep you constantly up-to-date.

Note that you will need to activate your Microsoft 365 account using your Weizmann e-mail address and password.

The Weizmann Institute’s licensing agreement with Microsoft now grants all Institute employees and students access to Office Online services.

Office Online services enable browser-based use of all standard Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote), as well as access to the OneDrive service, without the need for software installation.

Instructions for Use

To access Office Online services on all major platforms:

• On computers, access the Office Online portal and enter your Weizmann Institute user e-mail address and password, then click the desired application’s icon.
• On tablets and smartphones, install the desired mobile app from your device’s relevant app store, and enter your Weizmann Institute user e-mail address and password on first launch of that app.

OneDrive is a Microsoft cloud storage and file sharing service implemented at the Weizmann Institute.

Prophy is a software package designed to help analyze texts, such as papers and proposals, and suggest reviewers for these texts.

The software can additionally evaluate a researcher profile, compare a researcher to relevant peers and suggest reviewers for this researcher. It is available to Weizmann users under an Institute site license, and its use will be free of charge during the first year.

Pymol is an open-source molecular graphics system for visualization, animation, editing and publication-quality imagery generation. The system is Windows-, macOS- and Linux-compatible, is scriptable and can be extended using the Python language.

Note: PyMOL may only be installed on computers that are property of the Weizmann Institute.

GraphPad Prism is a comprehensive software tool tailored for scientific research, combining robust statistical analysis with advanced graphing capabilities. It offers an extensive library of analyses, including t-tests, ANOVA, linear and nonlinear regression, and survival analysis, all presented in clear language to facilitate appropriate analysis choices. Prism's user-friendly interface allows for efficient data organization and real-time updates to graphs and results, streamlining the research workflow. Additionally, it provides numerous customization options for creating publication-quality graphs.

SnapGene is a proprietary software application designed to facilitate the planning and documentation of molecular biology experiments. For more information on the application, see the SnapGene Web site.

In addition to the operating system and embedded applications provided by Apple, we provide a Starter Kit of standardized applications and software with every new Mac.

This kit, or software Image of Apple's own and third-party applications, is maintained frequently and kept up to date with version updates (older computers may be updated using the latest Image, provided that the owner has purchased the relevant software update).

The Support Section provides support for the most recent three major macOS releases (older macOS versions are not supported).

Future updates will be supported following new version testing and review.

Support is provided for properly licensed operating systems only.

Should the operating system have to be completely reinstalled due to user error, the Mac Team will do so as a low priority. In addition to the base operating system, we will install the standard supported software environment. For further details, see Mac Software Starter Kit above.

Be sure to keep original copies of any software you have purchased on hand, and back up your computer on a regular basis (see further information on desktop and laptop backups).

Note: Macs without a supported operating system will not be able to connect to the institute's systems.

In an effort to increase security and enhance the Institute’s readiness against potential cyber-attacks, we will update macOS versions on all Weizmann Mac computers. macOS security updates provide continuous protection for your work environment and keep your Mac safe from potential attacks and risks.

Apple provides security update support for the latest three major macOS versions only (currently 13, 14 and 15), and each Mac on campus will receive the most up-to-date version supported for its particular OS.

Macs operating on a version no longer supported by Apple are not protected and constitute a real danger to the security of our network. Thus, in future, such computers will not be allowed to connect to the institute's core systems.

Critical macOS updates (major) and security updates (minor) are distributed monthly and will be available for installation for seven days starting on the third Wednesday of every month. You will be able to install updates manually during these days, and we recommend you perform installation at the earliest opportunity to avoid interference with your work.

On the fourth Tuesday of every month, at 17:00, computers not having had security updates applied will receive them automatically, and may restart without prior notice to users.

All new Mac computers are delivered preconfigured and connected with JAMF Pro, a set of tools intended to help support Mac users, and let you gain control of your apps and services. JAMF Pro tools enable support of the Weizmann Institute’s Mac user community with the following:

The Weizmann Self Service App

An important JAMF Pro aspect is the Weizmann Self Service app, which offers the following benefits:

• The ability to install different applications directly to your Mac.
• Reliable distribution and updating of applications and services.
• The ability to perform maintenance on your Mac independently – and solve your own problems.

Installation Instructions

To install the Weizmann Self Service app for Mac:

1. Access wis-jss.weizmann.ac.il on your browser.
2. Log in and follow the on-screen instructions.

Usage Instructions

To launch the Weizmann Self Service application, access it on your browser.

JAMF Connect, a tool that comes preinstalled on Weizmann Institute Mac computers, streamlines password synchronization by allowing the use of a standard macOS local accounts with Weizmann (user name/password) credentials (on computers with JAMF Connect, additional users can only be created using Weizmann credentials).

JAMF Connect features a menu bar application icon (see below) indicating how many days are left until passwords expire, and providing links to frequently used services.

The tool can convert a local user with local credentials to a local user with Weizmann credentials, with a system add-on keeping these passwords synchronized.

Minimum System Requirements

JAMF Connect requires macOS Mojave version 10.14 and up.
