Important Updates: Second semester starting April 12

April 09, 2026

Second semester starting April 12

We are excited to welcome you to the second semester on 12 April and are preparing to begin studies either remotely or in person, depending on the final recommendations of the Home Front Command, which will be confirmed by Saturday.

Teaching format
We are doing our utmost to enable in-person small-group teaching, including lab and practical courses in the MD-PhD program, and hope to create a meaningful learning experience for all of you despite the current challenges.

Attendance and access
We understand that not everyone will be able to attend in person, and therefore, attendance will not be mandatory even if on-site studies begin, except for laboratory courses that require physical attendance. All classes will be recorded to support reservists, those currently abroad, and anyone who is unable to attend in person due to the current situation.

Rotations
The rotation dates remain as previously communicated (the 3rd rotation is delayed by one week and will begin on April 19). Please note that for Physics students who choose to undertake a rotation, the rotation spans a full semester and will therefore begin on April 12.

Studying or working from abroad
Students who wish to work or study from abroad, including new students, may do so with authorization from their PI or the Head of the Board of Studies (for first-year MSc students who do not yet have an affiliated laboratory).
Students and postdocs currently abroad may continue to work and study remotely until 30 April (with authorization from their PI).

Financial aid fund
The deadline for submitting financial aid requests has been postponed to 1 May 2026.

Travel and reimbursement
Students wishing to extend their stay abroad may do so until the end of April (with authorization from their PI) and will be eligible for reimbursement until that date. Please note that new travel (departures from Israel) from 12 April onwards will not be approved for financial aid.

Work in labs
We encourage all students and postdocs to gradually return to regular research activity in the laboratories, as this situation may persist. Returning to routine is important for both your research progress and your mental well-being. Those with special circumstances that prevent a return to regular lab work should receive approval from their PI.

We understand that this period is complex and affects each of you differently. We deeply appreciate your dedication to your studies and research and are here to support you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Warm regards,
Prof. Maya Schuldiner, Dean
Gili Vainer, Manager and Academic Secretary
